With a vibrant journey that began at the age of 16, M-prez Nolo, also known as Tomar, has emerged as a dynamic presence in the arts and entertainment sectors. Originally inspired by the entrepreneurial spirit in Atlanta, USA, Tomar delved into the world of DJing, nurturing a hobby that soon became a cornerstone of her career. Her early years in Atlanta were marked by significant volunteer work at the local University radio station and WRFG Community Radio, laying a foundation for her future endeavors in media and arts.<\/span><\/p>

Upon returning to Berlin, Germany, Tomar launched the radio show “Gheto Yuth Vibez” and a TV show “Triple T,” both dedicated to promoting Black Urban music and local hip hop. She also co-organized parties to celebrate Dancehall music and other urban styles like Afrobeat, showcasing her prowess in event organization and community engagement.<\/span><\/p>

Relocating to Birmingham, she balanced her passion for music with academic and professional responsibilities, playing at house parties and organizing her own events. Her journey then led her to Derby, where she has been working int he community arts space. She has been a regular feature for 2 years on Derby Sound, a local community radio station, using the platform to share a diverse mix of Pan-African music, from Kizomba and Zouk to Afrobeat and Afrohouse.<\/span><\/p>

Tomar’s professional acumen extends beyond DJing, as evidenced by her role as the founder of M-prez Enterprise, a multi-award-winning organization that focuses on participatory projects for the community, with a special emphasis on empowering women, children, and young people. M-prez Enterprise is dedicated to uplifting women and girls from ethnic minorities, fostering self-esteem, positive experiences, and tangible accomplishments.<\/span><\/p>

Her passion for the arts, culture, sciences, and sustainable development is evident in her participation in the Rio+20 Campaign by Peace Child International in 2012. Here, she gained invaluable skills in influencing policymakers and advocating for a green economy, aligning most M-prez Projects with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Following on from this she organised the UK and Commonwealth Sustainable Development exchange for young people.<\/span><\/p>

Tomar’s international media experience spans across Atlanta, Germany, Ghana,and the UK, where she has worked in community radio and as a TV presenter and producer. As a DJ, known as M-prez Nolo, she produces events featuring urban music genres like Afrobeat and Dancehall. During the pandemic, M-prez Enterprise developed “Xpress U,” a youth radio\/podcast initiative aimed at enhancing the wellbeing of young people through skill development and communication.<\/span><\/p>

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Tomar has published an insightful essay in the book ‘There Came a Time 2…’ discussing her experience with the heritage project “On the Side Line Photographs of the East African and West African Campaigns in the First World War.” She has also held key positions as a co-producer in the arts sector, contributing significantly to projects like Derby Theatres’ Reimagine project.<\/span><\/p>

Holding a BA (Hons) in Entertainment Management and an MA in European Cultural Policy and Management, Tomar is not just a professional but also a devoted mother to three girls.
