Overview<\/span><\/p>

You could get \u00a3150 off your electricity bill for winter 2023 to 2024 under the Warm Home Discount Scheme.<\/span><\/p>

The money is not paid to you – it\u2019s a one-off discount applied to your electricity bill between early October 2023 and 31 March 2024.<\/span><\/p>

You\u2019ll usually get the discount automatically if you\u2019re eligible. You only need to apply if you\u2019re\u00a0on a low income in Scotland<\/a>\u00a0– contact your energy supplier to apply.<\/span><\/p>

If you might be eligible, you\u2019ll get a letter by early January 2024.<\/span><\/p>

If you do not get a letter and you think you\u2019re eligible, you must contact the Warm Home Discount Scheme before 29 February 2024.<\/span><\/p>

You may be able to get the discount on your gas bill instead if your supplier provides you with both gas and electricity and you\u2019re eligible. Contact your supplier to find out.<\/span><\/p>

The discount will not affect your\u00a0Cold Weather Payment<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0Winter Fuel Payment<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>

Eligibility<\/span><\/p>

There are different ways to qualify for the Warm Home Discount Scheme depending on where you live.<\/span><\/p>

If you live in England and Wales<\/span><\/p>

You qualify if you either:<\/span><\/p>

get the\u00a0Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit<\/a><\/span><\/p>

are on a low income<\/a>\u00a0and have high energy costs<\/span><\/p>

If you live in Scotland<\/span><\/p>

You qualify if you either:<\/span><\/p>

get the\u00a0Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit<\/a><\/span><\/p>

are on a low income in Scotland<\/a>\u00a0and meet your energy supplier\u2019s criteria for the scheme<\/span><\/p>

The Warm Home Discount scheme is not available in Northern Ireland.\u00a0Find out about the Affordable Warmth scheme<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>

Pre-pay or pay-as-you-go meters<\/span><\/p>

You can still qualify for the discount if you use a pre-pay or pay-as-you-go electricity meter.<\/span><\/p>

Your electricity supplier can tell you how you\u2019ll get the discount if you\u2019re eligible, for example a voucher you can use to top up your meter.<\/span><\/p>

Park (mobile) homes<\/span><\/p>

You apply a different way if you live in a park home.<\/span><\/p>
