About Noir Sports

Noir Sports was formed in January 2015, through discussion of local retired sports players who had played football, cricket, netball and had been involved community activities in Derby City and surrounding areas. The group were aware that we were generally meeting up at funerals which are a sad occasion. Hence the group was formed with aim to provide social events, promote information regarding health and well being across children, young people, adults and the elderly primarily within the Community.
To date with have worked in conjunction with other community groups namely Open Doors, Hardari Centre and organisations which has included Derby County Football Club, NHS, Prostate Cancer, Organ Donations, Dementia and most importantly support young University Students on their start of their university journeys. This has resulted in a yearly award recognising Young People’s achievements.
The group has developed and is supported by a committee made up of the local community, which includes professionals who work in the media, social care, mental health, education, engineering and adult education.
As a group we have organised four successful Black-Tie Events at Pride Park and raised money for the following charities:
Sickle Cell
Prostate Cancer
Organ Donation
Young students
Windrush (Elderly recognising achievement of our elders)
Open doors (Providing Summer school for children)
Supported vulnerable adults of the BME community in the Covid 19 pandemic
We have been involved in other fundraising events which has including a yearly sponsored Bike Ride, Day trips out more recently a Royal Ascott event 22nd June 2023 which was a huge success.
Health information workshops on Prostate Cancer, Sickle Cell , Dementia and Mental Health are all ongoing issues which we talk and share information.
Noir Sports is also keen to promote local Business.
As a group with have successfully promoted success of our local talent which has included people like Tony Sewell Taekwondo, Neville Brown, Clifton Mitchell Boxing, Devon Daley (Radio) and Corey Mwamba Musician.
